Aircraft 87-9282 is first in a series of eight C-130H-2 Hercules aircraft manufactured by Lockheed Aeronautical Systems Company, Marietta, Georgia, for the 928th Tactical Airlift Wing. The maiden flight was December 17, 1987. Aircraft 87-9282 was delivered January 26, 1988 to the 928th TAW, United States Air Force Reserve, Military Airlift Command based at O'Hare International Airport, Air Reserve Station, Chicago, Illinois. This aircraft has flown missions during: Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Provide Promise, provide Hope, Just Cause, Uphold Democracy, Joint Endeavor, Volant Oak, Coronet Oak, Joint Forge, Joint Enterprise, Noble Eagle, Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom. Aircraft 87-9282 is currently assigned to the 440th Airlift Wing, USAF Reserve Command, Pope Air Force Base, North Carolina. Dedicated October 25, 2008, the affixed nose art honors the 82nd Airborne Division and its historical association with the 440th Airlift Wing. Wherever "82" flies the Division symbol flies too! |
