440th Airlift Wing
3/2/2011 - Pope Field, N.C. -- The Annual Warriors on the Water Bass Fishing Tournament will be held Friday, April 29, 2011 at Jordan Lake, NC.
In its sixth year, the tournament is held annually by the non-profit organization of the same name as an appreciation event to honor the men and women serving in today's armed forces.
The tournament pairs military personnel and fishermen into teams and takes them out for a day of competition.
Each year's tournament is highlighted by a visit from pro-anglers. This years pro-angler has not been announced. Last year's tournament featured Bassmaster Classic title winner, pro-angler Kevin Van Dam. Some other notables at past tournaments include Hank Parker, Jimmy Houston and Gerald Swindle.
Participation for servicemembers is free of charge. Fishing license costs will be waived for the event. Rods, reels, gear, food and drink will be provided.
All participants must attend the tournament icebreaker meeting and orientation Wednesday, April 27 at 1730.
