3/6/2011 - On Feb. 22, 2011, the 22nd Air Force Commander Maj. Gen. James Rubeor, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga, and Maj. Gen. Wallace Farris, Director Air, Space, and Information Operations, Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base, Ga., visited the Aeromedical Evacuation Formal Training Unit at Pope Field. The AEFTU Commander Col. Martha Soper, showed the generals how the C-130 training aircraft referred to as the 'hulk' is used to train students attending the AEFTU course. "The C-130 hulk is one of the best teaching aids we have in our instruction syllabus," said Colonel Soper. "We instruct emergency procedures and practice uploads of ambulatory and litter-bound patients on-site. This airframe increases our training capabilities and adds realism to the course.” The AEFTU’s latest class is due to graduate early March 2011. A DOD model for Joint and Total Force partnerships, students in the class come from active duty, National Guard, and Reserve wings. (U.S. Air Force photo by Jerry Green)
